My first time writing a poem was four years ago. I was stooped over the family computer, trying to finish English homework that was due the next day. The assignment was simple; write a poem on the subject of love. For some reason, I couldn’t bring myself to form any words to put onto the page. The blank screen stared me down, daring me to mark it with even one line of simple prose. It was then that I realised the concept of love was vague to me. It wasn’t until I dispersed the haze surrounding it that I would be able to write on it. At 3 am that morning I finished my first poem. Three hours later I would wake up for school. That poem is neither my best nor my worst, but it is one that I will always go back to knowing it was what set me on this path.

The human condition is one that continues to elude me to this day. To me, a character is a world on their own filled with all manner of strange and exciting phenomena. I don’t believe I will ever fully explore such worlds, even worlds of my own creation. But I guess that’s where the fun lies. I always look forward to seeing what happens when worlds collide.
